At the beginning of 2015, the Chilton County child population was 10,677. This includes all children under the age of 18. Nearly 2,800 of those children are under the age of five years. Everyday in the United States, 4 children die as a result of child abuse and neglect. Over three-quarters of these children are under age 4.
In 2016, the Chilton County Department of Human Resources received 419 cases reported of alleged abuse in Chilton County. 140 of these children received a core service from BBCAC due to the allegations being sexual abuse, physical abuse or witness to violence. This was a 20% increase in the number of children served by BBCAC during the previous year.
Over 80% of our funding goes to direct services for our clients.
The BBCAC needs to increase its budget in 2017 to keep up with the growing need in Chilton County for these services.
