In child abuse cases, law enforcement or the Department of Human Resources may request that our staff conduct a forensic interview with the child. Conducted by specially trained interviewers employed by Butterfly Bridge Children's Advocacy Center in Chilton County, such interviews are child-sensitive, developmentally-appropriate, trauma-informed, and legally-defensible. Prior to the inception of Children's Advocacy Centers, abused children had to repeat the details of their victimization over and over again to various investigative agencies, compounding their initial trauma. Forensic interviews limit trauma to child victims by minimizing the number of times these children must share their stories.

The CAC is a private, non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization and is not an investigative agency or an arm of law enforcement or DHR. As such, we cannot comment on the status of criminal cases. If you are a member of the media and need information about a particular case or an ongoing criminal investigation, please contact the appropriate law enforcement or DHR public information officer.
