Volunteer FAQs

Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How long does it take to complete my background check?

It takes 2-3 weeks for a background check to be completed.

What is the volunteer orientation?

Volunteer orientations are held as needed. Some of the orientations may be done individually and some in groups. These orientations may include videos, live presentations, short training sessions, and an extensive tour of the CAC. We do not have orientations in November or December because of the holidays.

Must I attend orientation in order to start volunteering?

Some of the volunteer opportunities do require that you attend an orientation before you start volunteering. Please refer to the Volunteer Opportunities page for more information about which volunteer categories do require an orientation.

Can I commit to ONE day during ONE specific time?

Yes, that is perfectly fine! If you know you can volunteer one day a week for two hours, let us know and we will set you up with projects and a schedule. Keep in mind, however, that the business and services that the organization provides varies and can change from day to day.

I have a history of abuse. Is that a problem?

Not at all. If you have dealt with abuse, we welcome your support in our fight against child neglect and abuse.
