Position: Family Advocate/Multi-Disciplinary Team Coordinator

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or other human services related field. Should have knowledge of family dynamics and child development; working knowledge of judicial system; ability to engage children of all ages; ability to communicate verbally and written form and be proficient in computers; ability to work well with others in small and large groups; ability to lead groups when necessary; be empathetic to children who are victims and their families; ability to make day to day decisions based on job description; a team player.

Summary of duties:

Provide a variety of advocacy and crisis intervention services for child victims and their families. Interact with professionals, disciplines and agencies involved in child abuse investigations and/or services to victims and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
------------------------------------------
1. Establish contact with and provide support for victim and family at forensic interviews.
2. Provide crisis intervention for victims and families referred to the CAC.
3. Maintain contact with victim and family throughout investigation phase and prosecution to inform them of the status of the case, upcoming meetings, and court dates.
4. Track each case through every aspect of the investigation.
5. Maintain tracking of all CAC cases that enter the court system.
6. Provide court advocacy, court preparation, and support for victims and families.
7. Provide assessment of client needs and develop a plan to meet the needs for clients and families.
8. Provide and/or assist with support groups or individual sessions for non-offending family members referred to the CAC.
9. Assist appropriate agency staff with treatment intakes and evaluations as needed.
10. Input all cases referred to the CAC into the Case Tracking system. Maintain up-to-date records.
11. Participate in communication and coordination of services with internal and external providers to include attending meetings and liaison activities.
12. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners, including child protection, law enforcement, the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, education, mental health, and medical professionals to ensure that each child and family entering into BBCAC receives immediate and coordinated services.
13. Coordinate monthly child abuse case review meetings; schedule and facilitate meetings with the District Attorney’s Office; prepare case dockets for MDT case review meetings, inform MDT of meetings, secure a place for meetings, do appropriate follow-up documentation post-meeting; and if necessary, plan meal for MDT case review meetings.
14. Document all services provided to clients according to agency requirements and guidelines.
15. Work as part of the agency and the multidisciplinary team, adhering to established policy.
16. Provide orientation for new MDT members and annual training along with other designated CAC staff and MDT
17. Organize and provide training opportunities for the Multi-disciplinary Team
18. Participate in community education and outreach activities.
19. Recruit, schedule, and supervise volunteers as needed to assist families in family waiting area to ensure safety and comfort of children and families being served.
20. Other duties as deemed necessary and assigned by supervisor.
