THERAPIST/FORENSIC INTERVIEWER
Position qualifications: Master’s degree in social work, clinical psychology, or counseling from an accredited program; licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor (or working toward full licensure) is preferred; Two years of experience providing therapy to children is ideal but not required. Experience using TF-CBT, an evidence-based treatment model, is desired. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, detail-oriented, flexible, self-motivated professional who has great organizational skills and thrives in a team-oriented environment.

Compensation:
Compensation is commensurate with experience and education.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position: Therapist/Forensic Interviewer
Supervisor: Executive Director/CFIS (Chilton location)
Assistant Director/CFIS (Elmore and Autauga locations)
Qualifications: Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Psychology ,or related field. ALC, LPC, LGSW, or LPSW preferred. Should have: knowledge of family dynamics and child development; working knowledge of judicial system; ability to engage children of all ages; ability to communicate verbally and written form and be proficient in computers; ability to work well with others in small and large groups; ability to lead groups when necessary; be empathetic to children who are victims and their families; ability to make day to day decisions based on job description; a team player. Must pass a criminal history check and child abuse registry background check.
Job Duties:
1. Provide direct clinical mental health services (individual, group and family therapy as needed) to child victims of abuse and/or their family upon referral of the multidisciplinary team or as requested by the family.
2. Maintain accurate records and case notes of therapeutic contacts and sessions.
3. Schedule appointments and make follow-up contacts on missed appointments.
4. Provide and secure needed client information from other agencies as needed on a case-by-case basis.
5. Coordinate with appropriate agencies in providing services to clients and families.
6. Attend and participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, including presentation of cases when set for review.
7. Provide crisis intervention services to families of children who are believed to be victims of abuse.
8. Make appropriate referrals for ongoing counseling as needed on a case-by-case basis.
9. Complete client statistical information as requested by Executive Director and/or Assistant Director.
10. When needed and requested, assist in conducting of sensitive and thorough forensic interviews with alleged child victims, siblings and possible witnesses.
11. Testify in court if subpoenaed.
12. As needed to support the Family Advocates, provide the intake with the family and child upon arrival at the CAC for the initial forensic interview; this includes, but not limited to, explaining the interview process, paperwork and expectations to the non-offending care giver and child; reiterating to the child the reason they are here and the importance of telling the truth
13. As needed to support the Family Advocates, as soon as a case is set for Grand Jury and Trial, contact the family by phone to set up a meeting to provide the court prep; explain judicial process to child victim and family so they will know what to expect when the goes to court; prior to court appearance, take the child and family to the courthouse for education about court process; provide support during court proceedings.
14. As needed to support the Family Advocates, compassionately support the child during all phases of interviews and prosecution; accompany child to court proceedings when possible; act as a liaison between the parent & child; law enforcement & child; and the court & child.
15. Participate in relevant training and educational opportunities to stay current in the field of child abuse.
16. Provide education and training services to other agencies/organizations in the community as requested by the Executive Director.
17. Helps in the recruitment, screening, training and supervising of volunteers/interns.
18. Is available to provide advocacy for after-hours emergencies as needed. If unavailable due to other work or personal commitments (vacation or sickness), will ensure that a volunteer or intern is on-call to provide advocacy.
19. Other related duties as assigned.
